Sacrifice
Forfeiting, or giving up something, at first
seems unpleasant, even painful at times. In our world, we cling
to our “stuff,” whatever
those special “things” might be, with a vengeance.
Yet, in days past, people truly embraced the blessings of sacrifice,
or giving gifts of eternal value.
During the Christmas season, we are bombarded with advertisements
telling us to spend, spend, and to buy more by using credit,
or whatever means we can. When, really, the true meaning of the
season is about the unfathomable gift Jesus Christ gave to mankind.
When we give of our time, talents, and treasure this Holiday
Season, are we giving in light of our Savior, or because of what
our misguided world models for us?
Have you noticed how quickly toys are discarded? How those cheese
and meat baskets are gone in a day; or how the Christmas-cash
is eagerly spent then forgotten? We’d like to challenge
you this year to forfeit the “normal” and give something
of extraordinary value — a gift that will matter for generations
to come, and into eternity. God loves the fatherless, and
all the children of this world regardless of their current circumstances.
Bethany House has spent the past sixteen years being His hands
extended to women who are often forgotten and even scorned for
their choices. In spite of their prior decisions, these young
ladies have, for whatever reason, chosen to sacrifice their own
dreams for what they consider "something of greater value"… an
innocent baby’s future.
A majority of you believe strongly that every life is important,
however, like most good things, just believing is not enough;
together, we can help women and children, such as these, succeed.
